Dropshipping….

Over the past year I have diligently searched for ways “to make money online”.

After a simple search on YouTube, my recommended videos became flooded with so called gurus with 25 sources of income each month.

A common way they say to make money, is to create your own dropshipping business. Interested by this idea I elected to dig deeper and understand the e-commerce landscape surrounding dropshipping.

Here is what I have learned.

What is DropShipping?

In its simplest form dropshipping is a business practice that preys on the naive Internet users who dont know what Alibaba is. The type of people that would see a Facebook ad and investigate further, the people who click the sponsored link on google.

“Business Owners” find a “winning product” mostly gimmicky, novelty items that are fun for a week but then stay hidden in a closet somewhere for years on end. They find an appropriate seller on Alibaba, selling the items for a cheap price in bulk.

The next step is to create the killer Shopify store. Generic stores galore that are hardly differentiable from each other is the norm here. Stacked with questionable assurances, these stores include reviews from alibaba as proof of concept and never ending year round sales that rarely expire.

The product is added to the store, price jacked up 200 or 300% , then all orders executed on the dropshipping store are routed to the alibaba seller who ships to the customer.

Boring and predatory are words that come to mind when describing DropShipping.

Branding

Increasingly what is happening is that dropshippers are now branding these generic products to stand out from the competition and establish a concrete identity.

They believe slapping a brand name or logo made by some guy on fiverr will lead to more sales.

Trustworthiness is the goal but they inexplicably fail miserably.

Gurus

Where do I start with these numbskulls?

YouTube and Instagram has become plagued by these furus (fake gurus). Offering the answer to e-commerce they show millions in “total sales” but rarely show their profits. Hmm I wonder if that is because 90% of their costs are Facebook ads and Instagram promos that we have all seen and reek of shadiness.

Dont be fooled these guys will show millions in sales and then direct you to tHe uLTiMaTe dRoPsHippInG course that is guaranteed to make your store profitable. Not looking at anyone in particular…. Biaheza. These courses are just another avenue that employs the same tactics as any dropshipping store.

Please for the love of god never buy a dropshipping course.

Tai Lopez has inspired a generation of Furus and it makes me sad.

Conclusion

To end this rant, I have to say that dropshipping is the epitome of everything wrong with woke entrepreneurs and e-commerce today.

This is not a service its a glorified scam.

Please let your parents or grandparents know not to click ads on Facebook! Instead whenever you buy anything on line go to alibaba and search for the same product and I guarantee you will find it for a fraction of the price.
